Description
What It Is Used For
- High Blood Pressure (Hypertension): Classified as an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), it works by blocking a substance in the body that causes blood vessels to tighten, helping blood vessels relax and widen to lower blood pressure.
- Cardiovascular Risk Reduction: Used to help lower the risk of heart attacks or strokes in high-risk patients.
Dosage & Administration
- Usual Dose for Hypertension: Dosing is individualized based on medical evaluation and response to treatment. A healthcare provider will determine the appropriate strength and daily schedule.
- How to Take: Swallow the yellow, capsule-shaped film-coated tablet with water or another non-alcoholic drink. It can be taken with or without food, ideally at the same time each day.
- Consistency: It is important to take it regularly as prescribed. High blood pressure often has no symptoms, and stopping the medication suddenly can cause blood pressure to rise again.
